Dentures

Like implants, dentures replace missing teeth, but unlike implants, they don’t offer the same permanency. Dentures can be removed as needed and are full, meaning they replace all your teeth, or partial, meaning they replace just a portion of your teeth. Most patients report that dentures do take some getting used to and never feel exactly the same as one’s natural teeth. However, today’s dentures are natural looking and more comfortable than ever.

Conventional Full Denture

Conventional full dentures are fitted to your mouth after all of your natural teeth have been removed and your gum tissue has healed completely. During the healing process, which can take several months, you will be without teeth.

Immediate Full Denture

An immediate full denture is inserted immediately after teeth have been removed and before gum healing is complete. Our dentist takes measurements and makes models of your jaw during one of your previous appointments. Patients choose immediate full dentures do so so they don’t have to be without teeth; however, we always want patients who choose this option to be aware that this type of dentures must be realigned several months later. The bone supporting the teeth shifts during the healing process and causes the denture to become loose.

Partial Denture

A partial denture rests on a metal framework that’s attached to your natural teeth. Sometimes crowns are placed on some of your natural teeth and serve as anchors for the denture. Partial dentures offer a removable and cost-effective alternative to bridges.
